Terex has introduced the production version of its Twin Drive TC16 mini excavator. Equipped with both a 13kW diesel engine and an 11kW electric motor, the 1.9tonne machine can be used in confined spaces with zero exhaust emissions. A 15m cable reel is installed behind the cab, allowing the machine to travel under electric power.

Terex launched three compact excavators at INTERMAT – a micro TC10 and the reduced radius TC15 and TC19. All three have been developed in co-operation with an Italian manufacturer. The TC10, which weighs just 1 tonne, has a travel width of 760mm, allowing it to pass through a standard doorway. Hydraulically extending track frames offer a digging width of 990mm for maximum stability.

Selwood Pumps has had promising meetings at INTERMAT with potential new distributors who have visited its stand in the UK Pavilion. Exports through distributors account for 75% of the pumps that Selwood manufactures. The company is highlighting the S100, S150 and S200 Super Silent pumps, which have recently been improved by the introduction of a close-coupled configuration as part of an ongoing development programme across the entire range.

The 40.30 MCSS is one of two recently launched Merlo telehandlers being shown at INTERMAT 2012. It features a larger chassis and offers a 30metre lift height with a four tonne capacity, compared to fellow INTERMAT model the ‘Grand’ Roto 60.24 MCSS and its 24metre lift and six tonne capacity.

The lower angle of Caterpillar Work Tools’ new line of buckets for the E-series Hydraulic Excavators are said to concentrate the power of the machine across a smaller surface, offering less resistance to the material flow into and around the bucket resulting in a smoother and faster dig cycle. Caterpillar says its new Telehandlers - TH336C, TH337C, TH406C and TH407C - feature the company’s C4.4 ACERTTM engines that meet Stage IIIB emissions standard and are available in a 92.6kW (124 hp) or a 106kW (142hp) rating. The C4.4 engine is said by Cat to be designed and manufactured to ensure smooth, quiet operation and longevity. Built with heavy-duty steel and featuring 4x4 axles, autoshift transmission, four-wheel and crab steering with equal size tyres, Hidromek’s HMK102S backhoe loader is now being used in projects in five continents and more than 60 countries. The company says customers have described the machine as “robust” and “productive”.

Now producing 10,000 backhoe loaders and crawler and wheeled excavators a year and looking to expand its product range later this year, Hidromek has also been adding new features to its existing machines including the HMK140LC crawler excavator. Featuring a re-designed cabin and new ‘Opera’ control system, the 140LC comes with a four-cylinder Mitsubishi engine, a 4.6m boom and a 0.6m³ cubic bucket capacity. The machine has an operating weight of 14,300kg.

Part of Hidromek’s crawler and wheel excavator range, the HMK200W wheeled excavator is designed with operator comfort, productivity, serviceability and safety in mind. It has a four-cylinder Isuzu engine, a top speed of 25.5km/h, a boom length of 5.8m, a 1m³ standard bucket capacity and a 21,800kg operating weight. The model has a dig depth of 5.93m.

Italian company Ihimer has scooped a prestigious prize in the INTERMAT 2012 Innovation Awards. Its Carry 105 Electric Power eco mini dumper secured the firm, based near Siena, in Tuscany, the award for Sustainable Development. Ihimer will receive its accolade along with 11 other prize winners during a special ceremony organised by award organisers, the National Federation of Public Works of France (FNTP), to be held in Paris on during Intermat 2012 on 16 April.
