bauma has announced the shortlist for its Innovation Awards 2013, which will be presented at the show in mid April. Speaking at the event’s giant media dialog in Munich at the end of January 29, Johann Sailer, President of the VDMA Construction Machinery and Building Materials Machinery Association revealed that the organisers had received 156 entries across the scheme’s five main categories.

U.S. telematics giant Trimble has acquired a suite of software solutions from Penmap.com of Bradford, England. Penmap.com’s solutions include both office and field data collection software specifically designed for the cadastral and surveying markets. The acquisition enables Trimble to further cater for local application requirements and customer needs by providing complete customised surveying software solutions for the cadastral market.

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has divested its wholly-owned dealership in south-east Germany, Volvo Baumaschinen Bayern (VBB), to neighbouring distribution partner Robert Aebi. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, includes the transfer of the company including all assets, employees and sales territory. Moriaki Kadoya, president and chief executive of Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe (HCME), says Hitachi Construction Machinery needs to place “greater emphasis” on establishing local production facilities as it bids to strengthen its market position. German company Atlas Maschinen and Finnish group Mantsinen have formed a new strategic partnership that will include technical cooperation covering the manufacturing of hydraulic material-handling machines and R&D. Atlas has its head office in Delmenhorst and plants in Ganderkesee and Vechta, while Mantsinen’s principal place of business is in Ylämylly, Finland.

Crane dealers across the Atlas network will be able to add Effer cranes to the range of products they offer. Effer cranes will be sold, serviced and supported by Atlas dealers in different countries and particularly in Germany and the Middle East.
