The winners in the Bentley Systems awards for excellence in infrastructure have been announced. Final judging took place at the Bentley Year in Infrastructure 2018 conference, held in London. Slovakia road projects – bidding opens, funding found

Bidding is underway in Slovakia for the R2 Krivan-Mytna expressway project, which is being handled by the local highway firm NDS. The deadline for bids opened in July 2018 and has been extended now for the second time. Bids will now be received until the 9th November 2018. Revamp for Russian route connecting to Crimea crossing

A major road revamp project is being planned in Russia. The approach routes to the new bridge connecting with Crimea will be improved, boosting capacity, safety and traffic flow. The project will run as part of a series of transport upgrades in the Krasnodar Region, running until 2024 and worth a total of US$1.3 billion. The Jambatan Bridge project in Malaysia now looks to be revived. The project to construct the 1.4km bridge was first proposed in 2003 but progress then stalled. However new proposals have been put forward for the project, which would replace the existing Johor Causeway. New road upgrade project opens to traffic in Dubai

The innovative eHighway trial route will be built along a 5km stretch of the busy A1 Autobahn route from Reinfeld to Lübeck to the north of the German city of Hamburg. UK launches rehabilitation programme for riskiest major roads

The UK government has embarked on a €114 million programme to prevent almost 1,450 deaths and serious injuries on the riskiest A roads in England. The money has been allocated from the Safer Roads Fund to rehabilitate the roads - all of which are under the management of local authorities – over the next decade.
