Merlo’s ripe telehandler

The 40.30 MCSS is one of two recently launched Merlo telehandlers being shown at INTERMAT 2012. It features a larger chassis and offers a 30metre lift height with a four tonne capacity, compared to fellow INTERMAT model the ‘Grand’ Roto 60.24 MCSS and its 24metre lift and six tonne capacity.

Safety technology fitted to German trucks is cutting accidents

A survey carried out by BGL, Germany’s association of road cargo transport, logistics and waste disposal, BGL, says that safety technology is cutting accidents. The survey results show that driver assistance systems fitted to trucks can cut the risk of the vehicles being involved in accidents by some 26- 4%. According to BGL, the survey shows that firms in the sector should install these systems sooner rather than later, given the long term benefits, rather than waiting until they are legally required.

The authorities in the Republic of Bashkortostan plan to boost road links with a series of key investments. Some 193km of the M5 and M7 Federal road in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Volga) will be improved under the plans. At this stage, the size of the investment required has not been revealed.

Kent Highway Services (KHS) has a network of some 8,400km of roads and drains, which requires a fleet of vehicles to maintain and support. New developments will boost Colombia’s road network

In Colombia the Government intends to invest US$170 million into the road networks of 23 departments. Repairs will be carried out to tackle damage caused by harsh winter weather. The authorities in Colombia’s Santander region also plan to improve road infrastructure.
