McCloskey International has added the option of a recirculating conveyor and screen box to its I44 impact bar mobile crusher, creating the I44R. After the material passes through the crusher, anything over a nominal 20mm is recirculated back into the crusher to be reduced further. This removes the need for a secondary crusher or screen, saving money for the operator and cutting the number of machines on site. JCB has completed its 17-model, US-built second generation skid steer and compact tracked loader line. The firm has added the 175, 190 and 205 model skid steers and the 190T and 205T CTLs to the range, all of which are vertical-lift-arm models powered by a 44.7kW engine. JCB now has a machine to cover 97% of the global skid steer market, which accounts for more than 70,000 loaders a year.

Topcon’s RTP-300 machine, launched at INTERMAT, is no slouch in providing fast and exact road surface data for construction companies and highway authority consultants. “What is typically used is a car [fitted with road surface profiling technology] that needs to keep stopping when scanning a road surface profile. On larger highways, this has meant the road needs to be closed,” said Achiel Sturm, Topcon’s marketing manager.

Volvo has released its G900B-series motor graders for Europe and other markets. The four-model B-series – the G930B, G940B, G946B and G960B – each with a bigger engine, more power and higher torque than its predecessor, better matched transmissions, more rugged frames and ‘the highest blade down pressure’ in each weight class.

Tata Steel is taking advantage of the show to emphasise its new sector-focused operation and what this means for equipment makers. The company said that the new structure gives a single point of co-ordination and that its wide range of steel ensures that equipment makers get the right product for the job. One of the services it is promoting is a collaborative design-driven approach in which it can work with major equipment makers from the early stages of vehicle development.

Zoomlion is set to grow its operations as Helen Huang, general manager for the firm’s construction hoist machinery branch explained. The firm intends capitalise on its purchase of the tower crane technology from German firm Jost. Huang said, “We have a two year licence with Jost. We purchased the whole set of topless tower crane technology. This is arranged as a two year technology transfer, although there may be the option to extend the period.”

JCB has updated its 1.5tonne 8018 CTS mini excavator. The conventional tailswing machine has an improved lift capacity, thanks to a return to a box-section boom, with an 11% increase in digging depth. Dump height and reach are also improved, and the mini has a new dozer blade for greater pushing performance. Upgraded hydraulics, with longer travel valves increase control and allow straight line tracking while using upper structure functions.

The latest tracked asphalt pavers from Volvo Construction Equipment get independent travel drives and electronic traction control to help maintain productivity on slopes and around corners. The P8820C ABG can pave widths from 2.5m up to 13m and handle 1,100tonnes/hour, while the P7820C ABG paves up to 11m and places up to 900tonnes/hour.
