Look around our stand at INTERMAT and you’ll see what we can do for the quarrying machine sector – that was the challenge from new CNH Construction Equipment president Mario Gasparri. The former CNH International general manager said the Group’s new C-Series of wheel loaders and crawler excavators on show countered any claims of a lack of dedication to the sector. Case Construction Equipment, also part of the CNH Group, weighed in by unveiling its new heavy duty C-Series CX470C excavator during the show.

Atlas Weyhausen wheel loaders have been given a power boost as part of the developments to meet the latest emission standards. The company is showing two of the new machine types, labelled as ‘e’ models, at the stand of its French business partner Payen. The new ‘e’-type wheel loaders have been designed to provide a significant gain in terms of power and performance. Engine outputs now amount to 70kW for the AR 80e and 85kW for the AR 95e at 2,200rpm, representing a power increase of more than 15% for each.

Auger Torque has introduced a torque measuring device which fits between its auger drivers and the dipper end and measures the torque applied to screw anchors. A Bluetooth readout shows the torque applied enabling contractors top confirm they have achieved the minimum depth and torque requirements set by the civil engineer.

Wacker Neuson has renewed its 1.7 to 2.4tonnes mini excavator range with the introduction of the ET18, ET20 and ET24. The enlarged can has a lower and broader entrance for easier access and egress. The company’s Vertical Digging System (VDS) is an option, allowing the upperstructure to be set vertical when working on gradients up to 27%.

Rapid International is back at INTERMAT for the first time in 12 years with a focus on its Rapid Planetary Mixer. Designed and manufactured in Ireland by Rapid International, the mixer provides “innovation, productivity, pioneering, quality to the manufacture of concrete, in particular architectural precast products, construction and environmental industries”, said Jarlath Gilmore, sales and marketing director. Mecalac has introduced a rail-road version of its compact 8MCR crawler excavator. The machine has two sets of hydraulically-lowered rail wheels that use the dozer blade circuit to lift it clear of the tracks. The wheels can be set at 1,000mm, 1,435mm and 1,668mm widths, to suit various European rail networks. Activation of the on-rail function automatically turns on all regulatory lighting, limits the working height of the equipment, limits upper structure rotation and activates a load monitoring system.

JLG Industries has taken the wraps off a four-model range of powershift-equipped telehandlers. The 3706PS and 3707PS have a lift capacity of 3.7tonnes with maximum reach of 6.1m and 7.3m respectively. The larger 4014PS and 4017PS models have a 4tonne lift capacity, with a maximum reach of 14 and 17.3m. All four are powered by a 75kW Stage IIIB-compliant Deutz engine, driving through a four-speed powershift transmission.

John Deere Power Systems unveiled its solution for EU Stage IV emissions regulations at INTERMAT. It saw the company introduce an SCR catalyst and diesel exhaust fluid dosing unit to its Stage IIIb engine platforms from 56-560kW. “SCR was not our preferred technology path but it has proved to be the best way for us to maintain particulate levels while reducing NOx to meet EU Stage IV emissions regulations,” explained Xavier Adam, market planning manager for John Deere Power Systems.

Bobcat has introduced the TL470HF, a high-flow version of its recently launched telehandler. The HF version shares the 4tonne/7m capacities of the standard machine but comes with a 100kW engine (instead of 75kW) and a 190litre/min pump instead of 100litres/min in the standard machine.
