The Saudi Arabian government has approved plans for electric train and bus road networks in Riyadh which they hope will generate US$2.13billion a year and provide 450,000 direct and indirect jobs. The bus road network will have four levels with nucleus network for high-capacity buses, circular network for medium-capacity buses, secondary network for low to medium capacity buses, and local network for cluster roads on districts. Brazil in transport spend fast lane

The Brazilian Government has announced a US$17.01billion package for new mobility and public transport infrastructure. The huge investment includes the construction of 200km of underground and light tramway lines and more than 600km of new bus lanes. The programme of works, titled 'PAC Mobilidade Urbana Grandes Cidades', is set to benefit people in 51 cities and the metropolitan areas of 18 states.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has granted a US$198million (€150million) sovereign-guaranteed loan for the construction of part of the new Banja Luka-Doboj motorway in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The loan-targeted motorway section is the main east-west link in Republika Srpska, one of the country’s entities. Volvo CE has reported record first quarter year sales. Sales between January 1 and March 31, 2012 were up 17% on the same three months of 2011.
