7139 Yanmar Construction Equipment has announced the launch of a range of wheel loaders for the European market. The range will include four models - two available at the end of 2015 and another two in 2016. The machines will be manufactured by the Italian company 7276 VF Venieri. Yanmar has been planning its entrance into the wheel loader market for the past year, says Jean-March Reynaud, president of Yanmar Construction Equipment Europe. The focus has been on ensuring the robustness, performance and fuel consumption of the new machines before they are brought to market, he says. The first two models planned for 2015 will be named V7 and V8 and will offer capacities of 0.7 and 0.8 cubic metres respectively, and will feature a Yanmar 4TNV88 50 horsepower engine. The models planned for 2016 will extend the capacity of the range to over 1 cubic metre and will comply with the latest Tier3b emission standard for engines over 50 hp. The new wheel loaders represent a complementary business line for Yanmar’s compact excavator products, says Reynaud. The company is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of its ViO ‘zero tail swing’ mini-excavators. Yanmar and Venieri signed a long-term contract for the development and distribution of the new wheel loaders at INTERMAT 2015.

It is a vicious circle - customers seek smaller, tighter, ever more compact excavators, leaving manufacturers with the challenges of squeezing greater levels of technology into what is all too often an even smaller machine.
