A woman driver in California managed to escape police in a high-speed chase. The woman was driving a van painted to look like the Mystery Machine from the popular TV cartoon, Scooby Doo. Despite being pursued by police cars as well as a helicopter, the woman managed to elude her followers.

    In Japan a woman was arrested by police after driving 6km with the body of a pensioner in her car windscreen. The 23 year old driver struck the 80 year old pensioner as she drove home early on morning. It was the young woman's boyfriend who reported the incident to the police, who commented that the driver was perhaps too shocked that she did not know what to do.     UK road safety body, the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has revealed that oversees drivers have escaped 23,295 speeding offences since January 2013. This equates to some €2.92 million (£2.3 million) worth of speeding tickets. The figures were revealed following a freedom of information request to police authorities, asking how many overseas motorists had been caught by speed cameras across England and Wales.     A woman driver in the UK recently decided to put her appearance ahead of her safety as well as the safety of those around her. A passenger in another car filmed the woman as she drove along the busy M62 motorway at 80km/h, while applying make-up to her face.     Police in Poland managed to stop a 29 year old male driver after a 30km high speed pursuit. The BMW driver hit speeds as high as 260km/h (162.5mph) in his bid to elude his pursuers. When the traffic officers inspected the vehicle they realised the car’s rear tyres were so worn they had no tread remaining, and immediately impounded this dangerous vehicle along with arresting the offender. The man was from Krosno Odrzanskie in the west of Poland and close to the border with Germany.
