Volvo Construction Equipment’s (359 Volvo CE) robust A40G FS articulated hauler is part of the manufacturer’s new six-strong G-Series of ADTs.

The A40G FS model’s powerful, new turbocharged six-cylinder Volvo engine has been redesigned to adhere to stringent Tier 4 Final emissions regulations. The Volvo drivetrain and novel inline dropbox is designed for high ground clearance and purpose-built to ensure perfect harmony and optimised performance.

To keep the A40G FS and other G-Series ADTs surefooted in even the most treacherous of job sites, automatic traction control (ATC) and innovative differential locks are standard. The ATC system automatically switches between drive combinations of 6x6 and 6x4 to ensure lower fuel consumption or provide maximum traction when needed. If necessary, all differentials can be 100% locked, causing all wheels to rotate at the same speed for maximised traction in slippery conditions.

With the A40G FS, full hydraulic suspension on all wheels is said to increase productivity and makes for a more comfortable ride.

The A40G FS is among the G-Series models that can be equipped with Volvo’s award-winning on-board weighing system, which allows for precise machine productivity monitoring, helping to optimise payload and minimise wear, tyre damage and high fuel consumption. On FS models, the system uses full suspension pressure sensors to monitor weight, relaying information to load software integrated into the machine’s electronics. Indicator lights tell the hauler operator, as well as the operator of the loading unit, whether the hauler is at part or nominal load or whether it has been overloaded.

The centrally positioned ROPS/FOPS-equipped Volvo Care Cab gives the operator a commanding view of the job site, and ergonomically positioned controls are close at hand for ease of use.

The G-Series provides machine owners, operators and technicians with access to a wealth of data that promotes greater uptime — thereby lowering costs and increasing productivity. These machines come fitted as standard with CareTrack, Volvo CE’s telematics system.

Other new Volvo CE G-Series ADT models are the A25G, A30G, A35G, A35G FS, and the A40G.

Volvo Construction Equipment’s new 55-tonne capacity Volvo A60H meets growing customer demand for articulated haulers with larger capacities. The articulated hauler concept was originally launched by Volvo in 1966 and celebrates its 50th birthday this year. The Volvo A60H’s higher payload – a 40% increase on Volvo’s A40 –lowers the cost-per-tonne for hauliers. It also offers an alternative to rigid dump trucks and construction trucks operating on soft, uneven or steep roads, allowing a similar amount
