Tesmec’s versatile Gallmac wheeled excavator can handle a wide variety of application onsite
Trencher specialist 2342 Tesmec is broadening its product range with the addition of a highly versatile wheeled excavator, as well as offering new trenching technology. The firm’s Gallmac TG series wheeled excavators are highly versatile machines that are designed to work alongside trenchers as support machines in utility applications and also in a wide variety of other tasks. The Gallmac models are offered in three variants which weight from 10-12.7tonnes and can be driven on-road (where local rules allow) at speeds of around 32km/h. This fast travel speed allows a user to move the machine quickly from one jobsite to another, without the need for dedicated heavy equipment transporters and providing a significant financial saving. The machines are offered with three steering modes; rear wheel, four wheel, crab. This boost versatility further as the operator can manoeuvre the machine into tight spaces onsite, such as between highway barriers, lighting poles, signposts or other items of site equipment.

The firm also recently launched its powerful TRS-1575BW, a heavy-duty bucket wheel machine that weighs in at 113tonnes and is designed to cut trenches in dirt for underground utility construction. Primary power is from a turbocharged diesel engine and all functions of the unit are hydraulically controlled. The firm also recently launched its two Dirt Trenchers (the DT Series), which are specifically designed for dewatering and drainage projects. The unit incorporates two-speed crawler-drive that provides infinitely variable speed regulation whether traveling forward or in reverse. The cutting wheel is hydraulically driven through flywheel gearboxes that maintain consistent torque in most uneven ground formations. Other major functions are raising and lowering the digging attachment, a spoil removing conveyor belt, a conveyor shift, and an extendable undercarriage.

In addition, Tesmec says that all of its new trenchers are equipped with the firm’s state-of-the-art TrenchTronic 3.0 control system. This is claimed to allow even inexperienced operators to achieve high productivity as it continuously monitors pressure, digging circuits and engine speed. Machine speed is adjusted to suit the digging conditions and the unit automatically operates at optimum. All Tesmec Trenchers come with the 342 Topcon Tierra live-tracking GPS which allows one to monitor the engine hours of the machine, maintenance schedule, status, and location remotely.
