The Memory Management in Event Recording System is the new sophisticated tool by SmartDrive Systems.
A US firm, 3101 SmartDrive Systems, has developed a sophisticated tool that can be used to boost fuel efficiency across vehicle fleets while also improving safety. The patented Memory Management in Event Recording System uses a range of motion and GPS sensors to detect risky driving behaviour such as sudden stops, hard cornering, aggressive acceleration, and excessive speed. The system provides video and vehicle event information for review by SmartDrive vehicle safety experts who can identify over 50 unsafe driving practices.

Fleet owners can use this analysis to improve safe driving performance and reduce fuel consumption.

Research from the US reveals that multi-tasking drivers are at a greater risk of crashes. The information comes from US driver risk management firm Lytx, which announced new data regarding commercial driving and distraction during the National Safety Council's Distracted Driving Awareness Month, in April 2019. A minimum of nine people in the US die in crashes due to distracted driving every day. Distraction is the second leading cause of fatal truck crashes in commercial vehicle fleet. Lytx has found that 2

Integrated construction software offers an effective planning solution - *Mark Nichols writes. In a world where resources are limited, 20 year designing and building in a sustainable way is more critical than ever. By employing today's software tools it is possible to reduce the total cost of construction of a new highway, while reducing operating costs and environmental impacts. The path to achieving the greatest gains is to take a holistic approach to the plan, design, construct and operate process from t

Topcon says that its new IP-S2 package combines GNNS positioning capabilities with inertial sensors, while the firm also has a solution for customers wanting to mix and match receiver components. The IP-S2 is a vehicle-mounted, mobile 3D tool that offers precision mapping and surveying capabilities. The package collects data using 3D laser scanners, LIDAR, and/or cameras, and this is then integrated, time-stamped and geo-referenced. The customer can use this assembled data to combine LIDAR point cloud and d
