Contractors go with the Flowpoint in Estonia

Instarmac’s Estonian partner RoadService laid the Flowpoint at the Juuliku Road junction at Tallinn Roundabout.

Construction of Juuliku Road Junction and Road Section involved reconstructing areas of the existing road network as well as introducing a 3.4km connection road, two bridges and viaducts and a two-level interchange.

An additional three roundabouts were built with natural stone. Maanteeamet - Estonian Road Administration - required a grout that would be durable and long-lasting as well as withstand the freezing winters and warm summers. Flowpoint rapid set flowable grout was used to point the stone setts.

Part of the UltraScape Mortar Paving System, Flowpoint has been independently tested to British Standard to withstand cracking and staining, in even the coldest climates, says Instarmac.

The flowable nature of the product means it is equally suited to grouting small cobbles on a driveway as it is large paving tiles in urban regeneration projects. This also makes it the ideal product for grouting uneven areas, which was essential for this project, according to the company.

Importantly, Flowpoint can receive foot traffic in an hour and vehicular traffic in four hours.

The Estonian project is the latest in a long line for UltraScape's Mortar Paving System. It has been specified and used at Tallinn Old Town, MBR City, City Walk and Opera House in Dubai, Roxy Cinema in New Zealand and MediaCity, Savoy Hotel and the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham, UK.
