A young British woman may be regretting her candid comments she made on 3008 Twitter following an incident involving her car and a cyclist. The woman tweeted that she had hit a cyclist while rounding a corner on the wrong side of the road but as the bicycle owner did not pay ‘road tax’ she had the right to use the road. The cyclist fortunately escaped serious injury but following a series of complaints, she deleted the posts and removed the account. However the police had already been alerted and also took a close interest in her earlier social media posts which included boasts about her speeding and tailgating activities, as well as photos taken of these offences while at the wheel. It seems likely the woman will have time to reflect on her ignorance of the rules of the road during her likely driving ban.

Officers in the town of Hemer, near Dortmund, used a laser unit to determine the vehicle’s speed, seeing that it was travelling at 95km/h in a 50km/h zone. The man managed to break into a Volvo saloon but then discovered to his horror that not only was he unable to start it, he was also unable to get out of it. The car
