Dynamic message sign (DMS) manufacturer 8027 SES America (SESA) has developed an enhanced version of traditional LED blank out signs with a practical design for custom solutions, which is says is ideal for displaying three to four messages or symbols as an alternative to full matrix DMS messaging.

The multi-phase signs feature LED technology, allowing engineers to create a wide variety of symbols and text, accommodating both standard and custom built housings and can be solar powered if required and is said to be a fraction of the cost of full matrix, dynamic messaging. The signs are engineered without a polycarbonate panel, eliminating the phantom effect, typically causing confusion and misinterpretation to motorists.
