Sunward’s focus on electric machinery and solutions tailored for Europe was highlighted by its new compact yet powerful SWE 10FE mini excavator.

Along with the SWE 20FE, it is ideal for urban and indoor projects, offering zero emissions and minimal noise.

The SWE 10FED is a 1 tonne unit with an EU Stage V motor that does more than simply align with the European Union’s transportation regulations. It is truly compact at 750mm wide. The machine can be safely transported on a small trailer with up to three buckets and a hydraulic breaker, while maintaining a total transport weight close to 1 tonne.

Sunward says that the unit has exceptional digging forces of over 9.4kN (bucket) and almost 5.8kN (arm), which easily rivals competitors’ 1 tonne excavators. When it comes to its long-reach digging capacity, the SWE 10FED’s boom cylinder design provides a reach that’s over 2.8m long.

All key components in Sunward excavators are carefully selected, from lithium-ion battery and three-phase asynchronous motor to hydraulics.

Legislative and economic factors are impacting upon the earthmoving equipment market - Mike Woof reports No-one who has any connection with the construction equipment sector can have failed to notice that increasingly tough emissions legislation has changed the shape of machines over the last 10 years or so. A series of targets have been set and met with regard to the exhaust emissions permitted from off-highway machines used in North America and Europe. The latest round of requirements has seen the intr
