A steering breakthrough for Ammann operators to control

The Ammann ARW 65-S Walk-Behind Roller introduces a steering innovation that allows the machine to move forward, backward – and now also easily steer the direction. This additional freedom makes operation much easier and more precise for users across many industries.

The key difference in the S version is a pivoting mechanism that enables full directional movement. Unlike the previous model, with rigid frame, the ARW 65-S can be guided left and right with the simple press of buttons in the control handle. Operators no longer need to shift their body weight to change direction, reducing fatigue and improving precision and surface quality throughout the shift.

“The steering control makes operating the machine much easier – and much more precise,” said Thiago Santos, Strategic Commercial Manager for Light Equipment at Ammann. “The steering results in increased productivity, efficiency and quality.”

The lateral movement is enabled by a hydraulic drum swivel, which allows 15º movement to the left or right. Direction is controlled via two simple buttons on the steering handle. A shorter drawbar makes the machine more compact, enhancing handling and transport.

A 2-in-1 Machine

The ARW 65-S delivers excellent compaction both in soil and asphalt – all in one machine and one purchase.

• The high amplitude setting is ideal for compacting soil and substructures.
• While the low setting suits asphalt, bitumen or other thinner layers.
• Dual scrapers per drum and a 60-litre (15.8-gal) water tank with integrated sprinkler system keep the machine ready for bituminous surfaces.

Proven Ammann Features

The ARW 65-S keeps all the benefits of the original ARW 65:

Engine options from Hatz, Honda, and Yanmar, all with electric starters.
Isolated, height-adjustable guide handle to reduce vibration and increase comfort.
Ample drum clearance allows work close to curbs and walls without extra manual effort.
Low maintenance design, free of wear-prone parts like V belts and a clutch.
Safety features, including a dead man’s handle and a 2.5 km/h reverse speed cap.
Smooth hydraulic drive for gradual starts and stops.
High traction, thanks to individual drive motors in each drum.
Anti-caking sprinkler system and corrosion-resistant water tank.
Cooling fins on the hydraulic tank improve performance in hot conditions.

APPLICATIONS

The ARW 65-S is ideal for:

• Earthworks
• Asphalt
• Sidewalk and cycle path work
• Sports grounds
• Agricultural and forest road construction

A Great Rental Machine

Rental houses benefit from its dual-use capability, low maintenance needs, easy control, and hour meter for tracking usage. Even inexperienced operators can use it effectively.

Data Tracking with ServiceLink

The machine supports Ammann’s ServiceLink system, which provides real-time access to machine location, battery status, and operating hours—automatically and remotely.
