BOMAG’s new RS500 stabiliser/reclaimer features a novel hydraulic offset system for its cutter drum

172 BOMAG’s new RS500 reclaimer stabiliser offers a combination of high performance and versatility, according to the firm. Its most innovative design feature is the sideshift system fitted to the cutter drum, which allows the entire rotor housing to be moved from one side to another. This means that the drum can operate outside of the wheel track, so that the machine can be used to stabilise ground alongside a Jersey barrier for example, boosting overall versatility.

The machine is also equipped with BOMAG’s Flexmix technology, which offers three infinitely adjustable gradation bars and is said to deliver optimum control over final material sizing.

Despite its output and performance, the machine is also designed for ease of transport and a novel feature is the height-adjustable cab that gives the machine a transport height of just 3.1m. This means that when the machine is being transported from site to site, the lowboy driver will have more route options due to its optimised height clearance.

  • High performance, high mobility of wheeled pavers
    February 14, 2012
New generation wheeled pavers aimed at use in territories such as the UK, Italy, South Africa and Southern Germany are now coming to market. Pavers in these countries are often expected to be driven from one part of a site to another or for short distances, which is why the additional mobility of the wheeled machine is preferred in many instances over similarly-sized tracked models. This preference for wheeled units comes in spite of the greater stability offered by tracked machines. BOMAG, Caterpillar and

The crushing and screening sector has seen a flurry of new model launches in recent months, with a series of new equipment introductions - Mike Woof writes. Crushing and screening systems play a vital role in the overall cost effectiveness of a quarrying operation. Ensuring that a quarry runs efficiently relies heavily on the appropriateness of the entire crushing and screening set-up for the material input, the output grades and the compatibility of each separate unit. Mobility has been a key issue in rece
