Schäffer’s telescopic 9660 T weighs into the tough jobs

With a working weight of 11-13tonne and a lifting capacity of 5.3tonne, Schaffer’s 9660 T is ready for maximum demands. The machine has 115kW of power and, according to Schaffer, is the largest articulated telescopic wheel loader on the market. The maximum loading height is 6.1m and the tipping height is 5.1m – heights that other wheel loaders reach by using a high-tip bucket. When the job is high, Schaffer’s 9660 T reaches for the top

As all Schäffer telescopic wheel loaders, also the 9660 T is equipped with a rear swing axle, adding to stability. The Ferro-Form sliding elements in the telescopic arm are extremely durable, unlike the usual plastic elements.

Shaffer’s elevated low-noise SCV cab - Silence/Comfort/View - ensures maximum operator comfort and good all-around view. The driver's seat can be optionally equipped with a pneumatic spring. The steering wheel can be adjusted both in height and inclination.

Also optional is the SDCT drive - Schäffer Dual Clutch Transmission that for the first time is used in combination with a hydrostatic drive. The means the hydrostatic drive can be operated extremely easily and comfortably. Schaffer said that with the SDCT, the loader achieves a thrust that until now could be reached solely with much more elaborate and still less comfortable solutions.

    September 26, 2013
Felix Scheuter, managing director at Haenni Instruments, the renowned Switzerland-based mobile scales manufacturer, gives World Highways his views on how best to ensure effective highway weight enforcement The main danger for any road is its gradual destruction by overloaded heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). The more frequently such vehicles use a highway, the faster it is destroyed. Mobile patrol teams using mobile weighing scales are a highly effective way to enforce weight limits aimed at protecting ro
