An on-site comparison of the QA335 Doublescreen and QA331 split screen
Seeing was believing for Karl-Werner Bierbrauer, owner of an equipment rental outfit in Germany. 325 Sandvik put on a special demonstration for this long-time Sandvik customer to show the advantages of the new QA335 Doublescreen.

Bierbrauer started Bierbrauer & Sohn in Kell, western Germany, in 1985. It now occupies larger premises on an industrial estate in Pommerfeld/Kretz. This was initially in the region of 20,000m2 and included a workshop as well as office premises. In 2008 the site was expanded by adding a 30,000m2 recycling plant and an additional 1,000m2 of workshop.

Karl-Werner Bierbrauer has a longstanding relationship with both Sandvik and its dealer for mobile crushers and screens in the area, TTS Trump Technik Service. This was recently shown when it came to upgrading Bierbrauer’s mobile screening plant. At present the business rents construction machinery with the mainstay being Sandvik’s QA331 mobile three-way split screen.

But Falko Greifenberg and Carsten Trump from TTS Trump Technik Service made Bierbrauer aware of the advantages of using a QA335 Doublescreen. A trial was arranged for  the QA331 to go head-to-head against the QA335.

Before the test began it was estimated that the QA335 would be able to deliver 20% more production than the QA331, with improved material separation and sizing through Sandvik’s Doublescreen concept. On average, the QA331 was producing an average of 160tonnes per hour. The QA335 however was able to deliver 270tonnes per hour – 40% more production.

The QA335 has a 4 x 1.5m Doublescreen box of two high-speed screening boxes with independent drive units. With the ability to adjust the working angles on each screen, optimum screen performance and precise material gradings may be achieved.

The QA335 has also proved highly economical to run with low operating costs due to low fuel consumption. A high level of service and maintenance safety is guaranteed by readily available access and hydraulically operated lifting and lowering applications for a quick change of screening media.

The hopper grid may be operated wirelessly from the loader which results in time-saving and uninterrupted operation cycles. The hydraulic conveyors can produce large product stockpiles.

Sandviks says that the standard fitting of the QA335 makes it is ideal for most users’ requirements, but a variety of optional extras are available.
