Cat wheeled excavators will utilise Rototilt tiltrotators under an agreement reached between the two companies.

Though the agreement was just announced, a 8347 Rototilt tiltrotator was attached to an excavator at the 178 Caterpillar booth at bauma.

More involvement between the two is coming. In the fourth quarter of 2016, Caterpillar will release a fully integrated solution with a tiltrotator for wheeled excavators between 12 tonnes and 24 tonnes.

“We are very proud to get this vote of confidence from Caterpillar,” said Anders Jonsson, CEO at Rototilt Group. “The complete integration is a result of teamwork between the companies. It also shows Caterpillar’s goal to be an innovative company that introduces interesting new products.”

Caterpillar customers will get an integrated system that enables control and monitoring of the tiltrotator from the cab.

The tiltrotator is essentially a link between the boom and work tool. It enables the work tool to twist in multiple directions, allowing operators to reach difficult spots without having to change tools.

The distribution will be a significant boost given the Caterpillar dealer network. “We go from our own three salesmen in Germany to a big network of dealers with hundreds of salesmen,” said Per Vappling, vice president of marketing and sales at Rototilt.
