In Australia an assertive kangaroo refused to budge from a Brisbane driveway, leaving a mother and her young child trapped in their car. The large kangaroo stood at the end of the driveway and only moved at last after the woman had repeatedly sounded her car horn. The animal was later moved to a rather less suburban location by the RSPCA.

    An Australian woman became highly concerned as she drove through the streets of Sydney late one night because she was being pursued by a hearse whose driver repeatedly sounded the horn and shouted. Following an emergency call, police stopped the hearse driver, who was found to be intoxicated. The hearse driver's lawyer later explained that the man was a binge drinker making a cry for help.

    In Japan a woman was arrested by police after driving 6km with the body of a pensioner in her car windscreen. The 23 year old driver struck the 80 year old pensioner as she drove home early on morning. It was the young woman's boyfriend who reported the incident to the police, who commented that the driver was perhaps too shocked that she did not know what to do. The driver was charged with causing a fatal traffic accident and leaving the scene of an accident, which carry heavy penalties in Japan.

    Around 20 residents of St Albans, a town near London, were evacuated after a huge sinkhole appeared overnight. The hole, 20m in diameter and 10m deep, cut right across at the road and well into an adjoining garden, leaving one family’s car stranded on the driveway. Residents are said to have heard a crash before the huge crater appeared, according to a BBC report.
