The African city of Kinshasa now has an unusual form of traffic policing. The city authorities have installed a number of robots at key junctions, to try and convince road users to take care.

The African city of Kinshasa now has an unusual form of traffic policing. The city authorities have installed a number of robots at key junctions, to try and convince road users to take care. The solar-powered robots direct traffic at the junctions, with these novel installations intended to reduce red light running and crashes.

    A series of controls to enforce drink driving and drug driving regulations across Europe saw police conduct more than 900,000 breath tests in a seven-day period, of which nearly 18,000 were positive. Motorists were also checked for drugs in the operation, organised by the European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL), between 4 and 10 June. In total, 928,863 drivers were controlled. There were 17,970 alcohol offences and 2,773 drug offences detected.

    A rider amongst a group of cyclists on a training run in Australia had a rather unpleasant experience. The man was cycling along a road with his team mates when a young kangaroo jumped out from the road side and collided with him, knocking him from his bicycle. Although he was riding at speed at the time, he was not seriously hurt and as one of his team mates filmed the incident, will have video footage to better remember the incident by. The feelings of the kangaroo over the incident were not recorded.
