Offset four-wheel design delivers single pass compaction

8591 CMI Roadbuilding has launched a three-model Rexpactor compaction line-up at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in response to previous customer requests. The updated RexPactor compaction machines have a four-wheel design, however the two front wheels are close together, inside the line of the rear wheels. This design ensures that all four wheels compact a different line, in effect delivering full-width compaction in a single pass. This layout also ensures that the machine can’t become bogged down with uncompacted material between the wheels.

There are three models available: the 17.2 tonne SP-3; the 22.7 tonne SP-5 and the 33 tonne SP-8. They deliver a distributed load of 81,156Nm, 91,212Nm and 99,877Nm respectively using an open-ring wheel design, rather than a solid padfoot roller wheel. Bottom-up compaction is achieved by forcing the wheel rings to sink into the soil under static weight.

The RexPactor range is designed for use in road construction, pipelines and other soil embankment construction. All three models can be supplied with a standard semi-U blade or with an optional tilt blade.
