An Australian woman had her driving disqualification extended by one year after being convicted for crashing her 2288 Honda in a car park while driving without a licence. The pensioner has appeared in court more than 70 times on a variety of charges in recent years but claims that she is a good driver. The court heard that she continued to drive despite having her licence revoked until 2999 for medical reasons. The woman was convicted of negligent driving, driving without a licence and failing to give particulars, and told she would not be able to get behind the wheel again until the year 3000.

    Research carried out for the UK driver’s association the RAC shows that even tougher new penalties are failing to dissuade those at the wheel from using phones. The research has shown that 60% of drivers believe being the cause of a crash would make them stop using phones while driving.
