Racing restrictions

Each car racing fan attending Australia's popular Bathurst 1000 event will be restricted to drinking a mere 24 375ml cans of beer/day. The measures have come about as police want to reduce alcohol-related crime. However, racing fans will be allowed up to 36 cans/day of low-mid strength alcohol beers. Meanwhile wine drinkers at the event will only be allowed 4litre wine/day each. The police are also urging people travelling to Bathurst to drive safely. The measures have come about as police want to reduce alcohol-related crime. However, racing fans will be allowed up to 36 cans/day of low-mid strength alcohol beers. Meanwhile wine drinkers at the event will only be allowed 4litre wine/day each. The police are also urging people travelling to Bathurst to drive safely. Presumably, police will also be monitoring speed and alcohol levels amongst fans driving away from the event once the racing is over.

    Police in Europe have been cracking down on drink driving with a major joint operation in 30 countries. Close to 1.2 million breath tests were carried out as part of this recent European operation. Police forces achieved 1,168,631 roadside breath tests for alcohol, of which 18,391 were positive.     A rider amongst a group of cyclists on a training run in Australia had a rather unpleasant experience. The man was cycling along a road with his team mates when a young kangaroo jumped out from the road side and collided with him, knocking him from his bicycle. Although he was riding at speed at the time, he was not seriously hurt and as one of his team mates filmed the incident, will have video footage to better remember the incident by.
