A woman in the UK aged 86 has set a record for being the country’s oldest driver to be banned for a speeding offences. The woman was recorded travelling more 50% faster than the 50km/h speed limit along a stretch of road. As this was the firth speeding offence she had been charged with in a five year period, she earned sufficient points on her licence (more than 12) to be banned from driving for six months.

    In the UK, a new speed record has been achieved with a Honda Formula 1 car clocking an eye-watering speed of 1,600km/h (1,000mph). However, this was a scale speed and was achieved using the popular Scalextric slot car racing set. For the record attempt a 60m stretch of track was used and this beat the previous scale speed record of 1,115km/h (697mph). The Scalextric cars are 1:32 scale so in fact, the slot car was travelling at a real 50km/h, itself no mean achievement.

    An American man rammed his vehicle into a car being driven by a woman and later claimed he had done so under express instructions from God. The man crashed his pick-up truck into the woman's car while he was travelling at over 160km/h.
