Ox Block pusher offers savings, says K-Tec

Canadian manufacturer K-Tec Earthmovers has launched the Ox Block pusher accessory which is says can make 400-plus HP tractors more efficient than crawler dozers for loading. “They can go much faster than a crawler dozer, maybe even loading one scraper and then turning round to load a second one if it’s a big operation,” says K-Tec’s VP marketing Shane Kroeker.

‘Better than a dozer’: K-Tec’s Ox Block pusher

Canadian manufacturer 8581 K-Tec Earthmovers has launched the Ox Block pusher accessory which it says can make 400-plus HP tractors more efficient than crawler dozers for loading.

“They can go much faster than a crawler dozer, maybe even loading one scraper and then turning round to load a second one if it’s a big operation,” says K-Tec’s VP marketing Shane Kroeker. “Using one of these also means you make a saving on undercarriage repairs.”

Crawler dozers typically require frequent track replacements, whereas wheeled tractors do not.

Using the pusher accessory, which has a patent pending, with a tractor also offers more versatility, says K-Tec. The Ox Block system replaces the front suitcase weights on the tractor, meaning it can be used as support equipment for loading a scraper while also pulling its own scraper, packer or ripper discs.

K-Tec began developing the Ox Block pusher back in 2014. “This is our third revision of the pusher,” says Kroeker. “We always test our products extensively after we’ve researched and developed them. We modified and tweaked it until it was ready to put out to the market.” The first one is working in South Dakota on a gravel pit.

As well as the North American market, K-Tec expects interest from other countries, says Kroeker: “We have an Australian distributor who is considering us for their market.”

  • K-Tec has created a new smartphone app with a cost analysis tool for comparing muck shifting efficiencies. Available as a free download from Apple iTunes or Google Play for Android platforms, the app also includes a dealer locator, an image and video gallery, news and social media content. CONEXPO-CON/AGG attendees who download the app can pick up a free gift at K-Tec’s stand.
