Working with a Korean equipment manufacturer, the hybrid drive has undergone extensive evaluation and is nearing production readiness. On display at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG exhibition in Las Vegas, the hybrid system includes wheel drives, inverters, capacitors and a generator. The system is scalable, so will eventually be available to fit a range of wheeled loading shovel models, providing increased efficiency and lower fuel consumption.

Oerlikon’s Fairfield division also displayed the Torque Hub range of planetary drives, that can be supplied with an integral Torque Lock parking brake, along with two versions of its aerial work platform drives. These included a hydraulic drive and an electric drive, to suit varying applications and OEM demands.
