New pump range from Atlas Copco

161 Atlas Copco Portable Energy has launched a range of powerful and innovative generators, portable compressors, light towers and pumps at CONEXPO-CON/AGG.

Generators

Leading the line-up is Atlas Copco’s new QAS generator range, designed specifically for the needs of the US market. The range has been completely overhauled and incorporates eight models covering power ratings from 25-330 kVA. All QAS generators include the latest Tier 4 Final engine and have a footprint that is up to 20% smaller than the previous generation. The starting mechanism ensures that stable power is achieved in less than six seconds.

Atlas Copco’s new inverter generators, which are available in power ratings between 1.6-3 kVA, feature variable speed smart control and use advanced electronics and magnets to deliver a clean and predictable source of AC power at the required voltage and frequency.

Light towers

Making its debut in the US market is the HiLight E3 plus. The electric-only LED model provides exceptional plug-and-light capabilities that enable users to easily connect to a power source, including auxiliary power, an electric generator or directly into the grid. To aid users requiring extra light coverage, up to 4 HiLight E3+ models can be powered by a single Atlas Copco iP generator.

Pumps

Atlas Copco has three new PAS diesel pumps at the show. With an outlet of 10, 15 or 20cm, the high capacity diaphragm pumps have a pumping head of up to 55m and accommodate flows of up to 13,800 litres per minute. Visitors can learn about the pumps’ extended range of new features that are designed to maximise efficiency and minimise fuel consumption. Over the next 12 months, Atlas Copco is replacing its popular WEDA electric range with the WEDA plus range.

Portable compressors

Portable compressors will also feature prominently, with several models from Atlas Copco’s XAS range to be exhibited. This includes the flagship XAS 185 which features the latest Tier 4 Final engine.

SmartROC D60, a highly versatile Down-The-Hole rig is designed for drilling 110-178mm holes. It also has a high level of automation for optimum efficiency and consistent productivity, according to Atlas Copco. The rig’s hole navigation and auto-positioning systems ensure that the rig locates the exact position of each hole and then accurately collars and drill

When asphalting the inside of the newly raised edge of a water dam, Austrian road construction company Strabag faced a challenge. The paver had to be operated at an angle of between 34-41 degrees with material fed into the hopper from a ledge just 2.8m wide on the edge of the dam. The Waldeck 2 kidney-shaped hydroelectric station is located on a mountaintop about 500m above sea level on Lake Eder in central Germany. The dam, owned by global energy group E.ON, has a perimeter of about 3km. An important pa
