Hyundai R229LC-9A excavator
The new mid-size excavator from 236 Hyundai Construction Equipment is the Tier 4 Interim compliant R220LC-9A, being introduced at Conexpo. This 22.5tonne excavator is said to offer improved hydraulics, increased operator comfort and added durability, while it suits duties in mid-sized earthmoving projects. Power for the R220LC-9A comes from a low emission, low noise 196 Cummins QSB6.7 diesel that meets Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB requirements and delivers 117kW. This engine has a patented VGT Turbocharger, which continuously varies airflow boost to match engine RPM and load demands for optimal performance.  The engine also features the Cummins Direct Flow air filter which delivers better performance and improved fuel economy. Operators can also choose between three modes; Power, Standard and Economy modes, to better match engine output to the job. The R220LC-9A has a new hydraulic system that offers increased precision, with uprated hydraulic valves, variable volume piston pumps, pilot Controls and new travel functions. Other upgrades include a new auto boom and swing priority system and an auto power boost feature for additional power.

Durable track rail guards keep the excavator’s track links in place, while the machine has an improved cab structure with stronger but slimmer tubing for safety and visibility. The upgraded cab has more space, a wider field view and better operator comfort. The R220LC-9A comes with a newly designed, colour LCD display, power and work mode selection, self-diagnostics, an optional rear-view camera, maintenance check lists, start-up machine security and video functions. It has the Hi-mate Remote Management System and users can monitor machine location, working hours, fuel consumption and maintenance needed remotely.%$Linker: 2 External <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?><dictionary /> 0 0 0 oLinkExternal www.hceamericas.com Hyundai America Website false http://www.hceamericas.com/ false false%>

    January 6, 2017
Sandvik Mining is now using Volvo Penta engines in its underground trucks and loaders. The advanced engines meet Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB emission standards and are claimed to reduce fuel and ventilation costs in comparison with other units. The Volvo Penta engineers designed a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) unit in the exhaust system that converts NOx gas into nitrogen and water. The Volvo Penta exhaust-treatment solution also reduces DPM levels without the need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
