Following its 2015 acquisition from 695 Doosan by Joy Global, 2396 Montabert has introduced three new small breakers to its product line.

The Silver Clip for special applications, SC36 & SC42 High Temperature, and Silver Clip SC28 for scaling applications.

“Montabert’s rock drill products and rock breakers complement our expanded offerings for the hard rock market, an exciting growth area for Joy Global,”says Ted Doheny, Joy Global CEO and President.

Montabert says its SC36 & SC42 High Temperature are dedicated to all high temperature applications such as crust breaking and cavity cleaning, for mini-excavators or specific dedicated carriers.

The fully equipped 500kg and 560kg hydraulic breakers are said to offer new benefits to customers, including high temperature seals; special long reach tools with high durability and tolerance to heat and heat shielded housing.

The SC28 hydraulic breaker is dedicated to all scaling applications, for mini excavators or scaling machines, and weighs 350kg (fully equipped).

It also offers dust suppression because scaling applications generate a lot of dust and cuttings, which can end up inside the breaker thus decreasing wear parts lifespan and increasing breakage risks.

The stresses placed on modern asphalt and bitumen means that specialist equipment is essential to make sure performance specifications are met. As road traffic increases at a rapid pace and road safety becomes a priority issue, asphalt is put under increasingly higher stresses. For example, road surfaces are subject to compression, flexural tensions and tangential stresses: internal friction, depending on the aggregates, and the cohesion, guaranteed by bitumen's composition, are the two main properties whic

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) (HCME) has completed the €10 million restructure of its manufacturing sites at Oosterhout in the south of The Netherlands. The Application Centre (AC) and Zaxis mini excavator factories have merged into one operation, which, according to HCME, will have far-reaching benefits for the firm. “At first glance, there is no similarity between Hitachi mini excavators and special application machines,” said Tonny Engels, general manager at the Oosterhout factory. “Howev
