Mitas new CR-02 tyre has lighter construction to suit mobile crane OEMs

Mitas has launched the CR-02, a 445/95R25 tyre with a lighter construction to suit mobile crane OEMs. The new tread design plus the ability for the tyre to be mounted on a one-piece rim reduces the weight of the tyre by around 25 kg compared with the company's successful CR-01 range. Mitas developed the CR-02 in response to the requirements of OEMs such as Liebherr and Manitowoc who are looking to reduce the weight and thereby improve the fuel consumption of their mobile cranes. CR-02 has lighter construction
7296 Mitas has launched the CR-02, a 445/95R25 tyre with a lighter construction to suit mobile crane OEMs. The new tread design plus the ability for the tyre to be mounted on a one-piece rim reduces the weight of the tyre by around 25 kg compared with the company's successful CR-01 range.

Mitas developed the CR-02 in response to the requirements of OEMs such as 718 Liebherr and 2123 Manitowoc who are looking to reduce the weight and thereby improve the fuel consumption of their mobile cranes. The  445/95R25 CR-02 is designed for speeds of up to 85 km/h, with a maximum operational load capacity at 80 km/h of 6,700 kg under 9 bar. The tyre has a symmetrical tread pattern and can be retreaded. The tyres can operate in winter conditions and mud.

Advances in transmission technology will help to optimise machine performance – writes Mike Woof. As construction machines have become more sophisticated, so have the transmission systems used in items of equipment. Advances in electronics and software in particular have allowed the development of integrated transmissions. These operate more efficiently and help optimise power delivery from an engine, boosting torque response and cutting fuel consumption and emissions at the same time. The smart electronics
