A new four-wheel steered swing loader in the 11tonne-class, the AS 1600, is being introduced by 2441 Mecalac to replace its predecessor, the AS 150, that for 13 years was the flagship in the top performance class.

The AS 1600 comes in an entirely new design and with a number of features that Mecalac developed for the first time for a loader of this class. These include a new intuitive operating concept; the new traction drive with MDrive; a new low-emission engine; the load-sensing hydraulic system with flow sharing, and analysis of loader data via the Mecadiag diagnostic system.

The wheeled loader can a load over height of 3.4m and has a turning radius of 4.35 m across the rear, making it ideal for confined work sites.

The AS 1600, which comes with a water-cooled 90kW 201 Deutz turbo diesel engine with intercooler that complies with the requirements of EU Stage III B, handles larger buckets than its predecessor: several bucket sizes from 1.6-2.5m³ and several types are available.

Mecalac says its swing loaders are versatile and can be used as a wheeled loader, rough terrain forklift, excavator, or for lifting.
