Long reach versatility for demolition

Caterpillar is now offering its versatile 352 UHD Ultra High Demolition Excavator. The machine can be used for demolition works at height, as well as for long reach earthmoving applications.

Caterpillar’s long reach boom can be used for bridge demolition or car park demolition works

The machine is designed to handle a range of Cat demolition attachments, including multiprocessors,, grapples, shears and hydraulic hammers with the retrofit boom. The UHD front can be switched for a straight or bent (retrofit) boom position for lower-level demolition and earthmoving applications. This switch can be handled by two personnel in 15 minutes, without requiring the use of special tools.

The 352 UHD features a variable-gauge undercarriage as well as the Cat Active Stability Monitoring system, which continuously informs the operator of work tool position within a safe working range and warns when approaching stability limits.

In the UHD configuration, the 352 UHD provides 28m of vertical height to the work tool attachment pin, and 15.8m of horizontal reach, when working with a 3.7tonne tool. Undercarriage gauge is 4m for stability when working, and 3m for transport, with 600mm track shoes.

In retrofit straight boom configuration, the 352 UHD uses a 9.1m retrofit boom with a choice of 2.9m or 3.35m retrofit stick. Equipped with the longer stick and a 3.08m3 bucket, the 352 UHD has a digging depth of 6.67m and a maximum reach at ground level of 11.88m.

The 352 models use the Cat C13 engine, rated at 304kW and meeting Stage V/ Tier 4 Final emissions standards. Three power modes in the machines allow the operator to match machine performance to the task at hand, and a new high efficiency, hydraulic, reversing fan cools the engine on demand to help reduce fuel consumption.
