LiuGong’s innovative all-electric dumptruck is a trend-setter

LiuGong is setting the pace in the rigid dumptruck market with its introduction of a new, all-electric machine. The DR50CE truck is aimed at the 50tonne capacity class and features a loaded gross weight of 85tonnes. According to the firm, this self-charging truck has proved its capability in Norway’s demanding tunnelling and quarrying applications.

According to Kim Massey, Zero Emission Manager of Rental Group, “At Rental Group, we considered ourselves experts in BEVs, yet the DR50CE has even challenged our understanding of what BEVs are capable of. Initially, we took a test machine on loan to assess its performance, but from the beginning, we were sceptical about its ability to completely self-charge on downhill hauls. I have to say, we have been amazed byjust how powerful and efficient it is. It’s operating in one of the most challenging applications, yet it makes the job seem effortless. We thought we understood everything about BEVs, but the DR50CE has opened our minds to new possibilities.”

The machine is one of several innovative new electric machines LiuGong is bringing to market, with the firm also introducing electric wheeled loaders and excavators and a grader.
