A number of visitors to South Africa’s famous Kruger National Park had a rather close-up view of a lion attacking an antelope recently. The drivers were sitting in their cars when a lion sprang at an antelope, tearing at its throat and killing the unfortunate animal almost instantly. This was photographed in graphic detail by the visitors, although some rather rashly opened their car windows so as to get a better view. The drivers were sitting in their cars when a lion sprang at an antelope, tearing at its throat and killing the unfortunate animal almost instantly. This was photographed in graphic detail by the visitors, although some rather rashly opened their car windows so as to get a better view.   • VIDEO: Successful explosive bridge demolition in Kentucky

    A successful explosive bridge demolition job has been carried out in the US State of Kentucky. After a short delay, demolition specialists managed to remove the old Eggners Ferry Bridge successfully and without incident. The explosives broke up the four middle spans of the structure. The demolition job was not without its challenges, with concern over the presence of nesting ospreys on the structure. Demolition personnel had to keep a distance of 90m from the nesting area, which delayed preparations.
