3335 Cargotec is launching the Hiab ST 080 in emerging markets, a compact unit suited for mounting on light trucks.

The ST (stiff and telescopic) concept was developed to meet the need for a crane with good hoisting properties, a low weight and long lifetime. This new model broadens the product line, features a boom with a hexagonal profile and is available with two or three extensions. The ST 083-032 has two extensions and a horizontal outreach of 7.8m, while the ST 084-032 has three extensions and a horizontal outreach of 10.1m and the ST 080 models offer a maximum lifting capacity on the hook of 3.2tonnes.

The Hiab ST 080 is said to offer easy use, high productivity and smooth operation. The ST cranes feature cross controls that allow a truck driver to operate the crane from either side of a truck. Other features include a strong hoisting mechanism, combined with large wire drums and reliable load handling while minimising time spent on loading and unloading. A powerful gearbox provides high hoisting speed at low noise levels and the ST 080 is made of high quality materials with various built-in and well-protected components.

Innovation in earthmoving machines will help users reduce running costs while boosting productivity - Mike Woof writes. The earthmoving equipment market is hotly contested and is one in which manufacturers compete hard to introduce machines with working advantages over rival models. This has fuelled strong competition in terms of machine performance and quality over the years, resulting in the development of high-performance equipment that is also reliable and long lasting. This is particularly true of the

The start of 2016 has seen major developments in the concrete paving sector - Mike Woof writes So far in 2016 there have been several major developments in the concrete paving equipment market. Many of the key players have introduced new models, broadening their ranges of machines on offer. US firms continue to dominate this niche area of the construction equipment market, with one European company being the only other major international player. At least two Chinese manufacturers have unveiled concrete
  • Concrete production innovation – mobility the key
    July 5, 2016
Versatility and productivity are key drivers for the concrete plant sector - Mike Woof writes. The days of most construction machines being expressly designed and built for a single specific purpose have gone. These days construction equipment is largely intended to be versatile and adaptable, allowing it to be operated in a wide array of applications and duties. New concrete plants are designed too for mobility as this allows users to set up highly productive equipment quickly on basic sites, with little p
