Kiesabbau Wiedemann used the HS 845 HD to extract gravel from the gravel pit of the 2841 ARGE S 33 joint venture in Grafenwörth near Vienna. Using the dredging method around 200,000m³ of gravel and sand were extracted, temporarily stored and then loaded for further transportation.

Equipped with a powerful 350kW/469 hp six-cylinder diesel engine, Liebherr says the durable steel structure of its HS 845 HD crawler crane provides ideal conditions for the heavy duty dragline application. The company’s Litronic control system, based on CANBUS technology, incorporates all control and monitoring functions in the HS 845 HD. According to Liebherr, this  allows the machine to work reliably at extreme temperatures or humid conditions.

Additionally, the crawler crane’s electrohydraulic continuous proportional is said to enable precise and simultaneous crane movements, which are vital for dragline applications. A second swing drive increases swing torque resulting in short swing and fast loading cycles. The machine’s Interlock control system allows power lowering of the grab line when raising the dragline bucket with the hoist rope, saving energy and prolonging the working life of the hoist rope.

Berger Grundbautechnik is using two Sennenbogen duty cycle cranes simultaneously for preparatory works for the planned BAB 100 motorway in Berlin. The new stretch of motorway will connect the eastern areas of Berlin to the central road circuit and the BAB 113. Large sections of the section being built run in a tunnel or in a trough of up to 7m. Hard at it are the Sennenbogen 690 HD and the new 6130 HD units. With a working weight of 130tonnes and two 300kN free-fall winches, the 6130 HD operates a 25tonne

Caterpillar has updated its hybrid crawler excavator, with the launch of the 336F H, incorporating Tier 4 Final power. The company claims that fuel savings of up to 30% are possible against the standard 336F excavator, despite the C9.3 engine achieving lower fuel consumption than the previous model. The engine has an automatic speed control system that lowers rpm during low load conditions. It also comes with an ECO mode that allows operators to tailor machine performance to the application. Innovation in earthmoving machines will help users reduce running costs while boosting productivity - Mike Woof writes. The earthmoving equipment market is hotly contested and is one in which manufacturers compete hard to introduce machines with working advantages over rival models. This has fuelled strong competition in terms of machine performance and quality over the years, resulting in the development of high-performance equipment that is also reliable and long lasting. This is particularly true of the
