Komatsu’s DX155AX-8 crawler dozer is making its European show debut

Making its European debut is 2300 Komatsu’s D155AX-8 crawler dozer.

Offering operating weights between 38 and 43tonnes, depending on machine set-up, the D155AX-8 has a patented SIGMADOZER blade which gives the machine a high blade capacity of 9.4m³. Komatsu claims that SIGMADOZER increases productivity by up to 15% over a conventional semi-u blade. The blade features a frontal design for digging and rolling material in the centre of the blade. Soil-holding capacity is also said to be increased and digging resistance reduced for a smoother flow of material.
Meanwhile, the automatic gearshift transmission and lock-up torque converter on the D155AX-8 is also said to significantly reduce fuel consumption, while also providing great power train efficiency.

The new dozer’s 264kW Komatsu SAA6D140E-7 Stage IV/Tier 4 Final engine features Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR), which further reduces NOx emissions by using Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). An advanced electronic control system manages the engine’s air flow rate, fuel injection and combustion parameters. The after treatment functions are said by Komatsu to optimise performance, reduce emissions, and provide advanced diagnostic capability. The result is said to be lower fuel consumption without inferior performance. Komatsu continues to use a Komatsu Variable Geometry Turbocharger (KVGT) and an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve for more precise temperature and air management control and longer component life.

The D155AX-8 is equipped with the latest KOMTRAX remote monitoring technology with data access via the web or via KOMTRAX Mobile on a smart phone. In addition to providing data on fuel levels, operating hours, location, cautions and maintenance alerts, KOMTRAX has been enhanced further to monitor AdBlue levels, KDPF regeneration and fuel theft. The Operator Identification System reports key operation information for multiple operators and the Auto Idle Shutdown function helps to reduce operating costs by reducing unnecessary idle time.

Ergonomic joystick controls, electronic control powertrain, and large cab, with features including ROPS (Roll-Over Protection) for excellent side visibility, are said to be further advantages of the new D155AX-8 dozer.
