The compact excavator has an operating rate between 5150-5795kg. A 28.3kW SAA4D88E-7 engine, featuring auto decelerator and economy mode, helps reduce operating costs.

The SAA4D88E-7 Tier 4 Final engine uses Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), and a high-pressure common rail fuel injection system to reduce NOx. For after-treatment, a diesel particulate filter eliminates the need for AdBlue/DEF injection. An advanced electronic control system manages airflow rate, fuel injection and combustion.

More data is available to contractors as well. The KOMTRAX remote monitoring technology sends machine operating information to a secure website or smartphone. Available information includes fuel level, operating hours, location, cautions and maintenance alerts. KOMTRAX improves machine availability, reduces the risk of machine theft and allows for remote diagnosis.

The PC55MR has a maximum digging depth of 3800mm and a maximum reach of 6070mm. The excavator is equipped with a swing boom that enables the machine to work in confined spaces. The boom features a single large-diameter swing pin for long life and durability of the boom swing mechanism.

The standard auxiliary hydraulic system flow of 70litres/min can be easily changed from single-direction flow to bi-directional flow for hydraulic attachment productivity. Bucket thumb mounting bracket, auxiliary piping for attachments and a 1960mm blade are standard.

A spacious cab and high, suspended backseat help keep operators comfortable. A new high-resolution 89mm LCD monitor features enhanced capabilities and displays useful information for the operator.

The PC55MR is equipped with an easy-to-access standard control pattern change valve so the operator can choose either “backhoe” style or “ISO” style controls to match personal preference.

Caterpillar has updated its hybrid crawler excavator, with the launch of the 336F H, incorporating Tier 4 Final power. The company claims that fuel savings of up to 30% are possible against the standard 336F excavator, despite the C9.3 engine achieving lower fuel consumption than the previous model. The engine has an automatic speed control system that lowers rpm during low load conditions. It also comes with an ECO mode that allows operators to tailor machine performance to the application.
