JLG adds to mast boom range with lightweight models

JLG has added two new lightweight versions to its range of Toucan mast boom lifts, the Toucan 8E-L and the Toucan 10E-L which will be available from June this year. “The 8E-L is now in a weight category that allows it to be carried into service elevators, making it much more versatile,” said Jan-Willem van Wier, product marketing manager for aerial platforms. “The 10 E-L can be towed behind a vehicle in a 3.5 tonne trailer.”

2199 JLG has added two new lightweight versions to its range of Toucan mast boom lifts, the Toucan 8E-L and the Toucan 10E-L which will be available from June this year.

“The 8E-L is now in a weight category that allows it to be carried into service elevators, making it much more versatile,” said Jan-Willem van Wier, product marketing manager for aerial platforms. “The 10 E-L can be towed behind a vehicle in a 3.5 tonne trailer.”

JLG has achieved the weight reduction by reducing the counterweight so that the lifts now have a one-person capacity rather than a two-person one.

There are other improvements too. The machines have a better slope rating: 2.5 degrees rather than 2 degrees  which improves the outdoor versatility of the lifts, said van Wier.

Both the lightweight Toucan 8E and 10E and their standard cousins have been improved to reduce the amount of maintenance they need. AGM batteries have replaced wet cell ones. “They are virtually maintenance-free,” said van Wier. The mast is also grease-free, achieved by using nylon blocks.

“With these four machines, our customers are able to choose the one that best meets their needs,” said van Wier.
