2199 JLG Industries launched two high-capacity telehandlers featuring the company's new SmartLoad Technology at CONEXPO-CON/AGG

The JLG 1644 and 1732 telehandlers offer 15,600 and 16,750 pounds of lift respectively, and are the company's first high-capacity machines.

“SmartLoad is an advanced bundle of three integrated technologies that work together to deliver a greater level of operator confidence. It will be offered as optional equipment on the 1644 and 1732 telehandlers,” says John Boehme, JLG Industries product manager, telehandlers.

The first SmartLoad Technology component is attachment recognition that automatically identifies an attachment and displays the appropriate load chart to the operator. The load management information system component graphically depicts the location of the load within the load chart and works in conjunction with the load stability indicator to help the operator avoid violating the boundaries of the chart.

The telehandlers are also equipped with JLG’s 'precision gravity lowering system' that uses gravity to lower the boom for more precise control. The machines have an integrated tow hitch and are compatible with a wide range of standard and speciality attachments. These machines will be available to North and Latin America in May.
