London, England-based J. Ffrench Plant Hire has recently signed a deal for one of the largest orders for LiuGong construction equipment in the United Kingdom.

The order will see the delivery of 20 269 LiuGong machines, which will be supplied by Construction Plant & Machinery Sales (CPMS), over the coming months. This large order also includes the supply of the UK’s first Dressta dozer, a TD15M Extra model.

Talking about the deal, Grant McGregor, of CPMS, said, “After testing the reliability and productivity of the equipment, and seeing first-hand the benefits of the low running costs, we feel that Mr Ffrench has been convinced that the product will be a valued addition to his fleet.”

The first five units to be delivered include 1 x 915D 14tonne class hydraulic excavator, 2 x 922LC 22 tonne class hydraulic excavators, and 1 x 936LC 36tonne class hydraulic excavator.

The popular 915D model features a four-cylinder 196 Cummins Tier 3/Stage IIIA engine, which offers a gross power output of 82kw (112hp), has a maximum digging depth of 5,470mm and tips the scales at 13.9tonnes. Standard bucket capacity on this model is 0.55m³.

The 22tonne class 922LC is powered by a six-cylinder Cummins Tier 3/Stage IIIA engine, which produces a gross power output of 116kW, has a maximum dig depth of 661.5cm and has an operating weight of 22tonnes. Standard bucket capacity on these machines is 1m³.

The 36tonne class 936LC is currently the largest LiuGong excavator available in the UK, once again this machine draws its power from a Cummins Tier 3/Stage IIIA engine, offering a gross power output of 209kW, has a maximum dig depth of 734cm and has a standard operating weight of 37.6tonnes. Standard bucket capacity on this model is 1.6m³.

All the excavators in the landmark order have been modified with full demolition specifications to meet the requirements of J. Ffrench Plant Hire. These modifications include heavy duty bucket tipping ram guards, strengthened side skirt protection, FOPS cab guard protection, boom and dipper arm check valves, and ‘boxing ring’ style fall from height protection on the machines upper structure. These modifications have all been carried out by Construction Plant & Machinery Sales team of LiuGong trained engineers, at their workshops in Portsmouth.

The 3420 Dressta TD15M Extra dozer has also been modified to the standards required by J. Ffrench Plant Hire. Modifications include a full power, angle, tilt (PAT) blade assembly and a heavily strengthened three tine ripper assembly. The machine is powered by a Cummins QSC8.3 Tier 3/Stage IIIA six-cylinder turbo charged engine, which offers a gross power output of 153kW. This D6 sized dozer ranges in weight from 20.66tonnes to 21.62tonnes depending on specification.

The DX235RTF-7 is based on Develon’s well-established DX235LCR-7 reduced radius crawler excavator and is powered by a DL06V Stage V engine, providing 141kW of power. The DX235RTF-7 uses the successful compact design and minimum swing radius of the DX235LCR-7. However, the key part of the machine is the heavy duty tunnelling front, offering a new arm and boom design with special kinematics and a tilting function.
