Merlo's panoramic P 41.7 hybrid lifting appliance
The 323 Samoter international jury has assigned the Technical Innovation Competition 2011 to Merlo for its Panomramic P 41.7 hybrid lifting appliance; 718 Liebherr-Emtec Italy with its Liebherr ER 934 electrical industrial loader and 2595 Simem for its MMX3500 concrete plant. A special mention was also made for a demolition tool from 1140 Mantovanibenne.

Merlo's lifting system expands the company's production range in the sector, while Liebherr-Emtec's loader is fitted with a new electronic management system (Liebherr Torque Control System) for command and adjustment of the hydraulic circuit.

Simem's MMX 3500 concrete plant incorporates a "significant series of positive characteristics as regards installation and management but especially as regards easy and rapid transport of the system." Mantovanibenne's demolition clamp with an intensified cylinder helps achieve (for the machine on which it is used) performances that are normally only attainable with machinery of much higher power.

Smaller construction equipment offers versatile options, particularly on highway repair and maintenance projects. Patrick Smith reports. Visitors to any highway construction site across the world will see a sizeable amount of utility equipment in action carrying out a variety of tasks. Indeed, because of its smaller, more compact size, such multi-task equipment is essential when repair and maintenance projects are being carried out, particularly in urban areas where space may be limited.
