High milling performance from Wirtgen

May 20, 2025 Read time: 1 min
Wirtgen’s powerful new milling machines offers increased output

Wirtgen says that its new W 210 XF large milling machine is highly efficient, and suits duties in challenging jobs. High-performance and efficiency are claimed and the machine can be used for milling widths of 2-2.5m and to depths of 330mm. The W 210 XF is said to suit a range of duties such as surface layer rehabilitation, complete pavement removal and fine milling work.

Although powerful and productive, the machine is also said to be compact for its high performance capabilities. The company claims that the machine can deliver high milling productivity for jobs where its relatively compact dimensions are required, such as on motorways, trunk roads and airports.

The machine is also offered with the sophisticated Wirtgen Group Performance Tracker Milling package, which offers automated documentation of milling tasks. The WPT Milling system allows a machine operator to view automated construction site documentation and display CO₂ emissions for the construction site at a glance and in real time. In addition, the firm’s sophisticated Mill Assist machine control system allows a combination of efficient working and high productivity.

Airport runway, taxiway and parking areas make high demands on paving requirements, both with concrete and asphalt techniques. Mike Woof reports. High quality surface finishes are required in airport environments for runways, taxiways and aircraft parking areas. Because of the speed at which aircraft take off and land and the massive forces exerted due to the weight of the aircraft, particularly during landing, runway structures need to be incredibly strong. The surfaces also have to be constructed to very
