HAMM’s new HX Series pivot-steered tandem rollers makes life easy, smart, and compact

HAMM presents a new generation of pivot-steered tandem rollers: The HX series. Replacing the previous DV+ series, it is impressive thanks to intuitive operation with Easy Drive, high performance data, many comfort features and sustainable operation, as well as the "Smart Compact" digital compaction assistant.

The system decides compaction automatically and individually for each drum: Whether to compact with vibration and big or small amplitude, with oscillation, or statically. The driver then only has to enter whether a base, binder or asphalt surface course is to be compacted. The assistant then evaluates data about the condition of the asphalt, optionally incorporating local weather data from an integrated weather station. This means that HAMM is the first manufacturer in the world to automate the separate setting of both drums and is therefore raising process reliability and quality of the compaction and surface to a whole new level. Moreover and thanks to numerous interfaces and the corresponding hardware, the rollers in the HX series are prepared for future applications and challenges – be they quality, documentation or communication challenges. HAMM also offers the option of integrating systems for avoiding collisions with a PDS (proximity detection system) interface. Furthermore, HAMM has put many detail improvements, new options and interfaces into practice in the HX series. All models are available in countries with the EPA Tier 4/EU Stage V emissions regulation.

TrafficLand, the largest authorised aggregator of live traffic video in the United States, and global aerospace and defense firm Exelis, have teamed up to deliver “game-changing” real-time information to motorists about hyperlocal weather conditions. The Helios environmental intelligence platform uses proprietary algorithms that give users the ability to monitor current conditions and detect changes in visibility, precipitation and road surface conditions at a hyperlocal, or street scale. Helios can then i

    May 16, 2017
Debate continues to swirl around the use increased recycled asphalt for road surfaces. David Smith, development director at FM Conway urges more cross-sector work to prove the case for a higher recycled asphalt content. The use of recycled materials within our road network is well-established, but a persistent debate continues around the extent to which asphalt can be reused. Although increasing the proportion of recycled asphalt offers significant economic and environmental benefits, there remains a resist

Solutions for Tier 4 Final emissions regulations dominated Conexpo 2014, with many firms showing off their options of DOC, DPF and SCR after-treatments. Deutz, while staying with an SCR-only solution, took a more unusual approach on its high horsepower V6 12litre and V8 16litre engines. Both get a dual SCR after treatment system to meet Tier 4 Final emission standards.
