Gradall’s XL 5300 III wheeled excavator is the largest in the firm’s collection

Weighing 23.2tonnes, the XL 5300 III is said by Gradall to be designed for high productivity jobs on every terrain. With its new yellow Gradall colour scheme, the machine has a maximum reach of 10.3m and a dig depth of up to 7.5m. Its rated bucket breakout force is 113kN, and the rated boom force is 111kN.

Gradall says the XL 5300 III’s rubber tyre undercarriage will not damage concrete or asphalt surfaces while providing an exceptionally stable work platform. In fact, the wheeled excavator can work at the front, rear or either side of the undercarriage without the need to lower its optional outriggers or optional grading blade for extra stability.

Mobility is enhanced by a design utilising a full-time, 4-wheel drive transfer case that delivers power from the hydraulic drive motor to the drive axles. Both axles have wet-disc brakes.

Gradall’s telescoping, full-tilting boom on the XL 5300 III can precisely position buckets, hammers, grapples, shears and other attachments without losing power – said to be an advantage over conventional models with boom-end tilting mechanisms. A short tail swing allows the machine to work in tight spaces and along highways with minimal traffic interruption.

The operator cab offers increased comfort with sound-deadening capabilities, a large seat with built-in joysticks and a convenient switch that allows the operator to select the Gradall, Deere or SAE joystick pattern.

A host of attachments are available for the XL 5300 III, including excavating buckets, grading blades, boom extensions, and trenching buckets.

Also on show at Conexpo 2014 will be Gradall’s new XL 4100 IV hydraulic excavator.
