GOMACO says that its updated Commander III slipformer now offers increased performance
218 Gomaco says that a series of improvements to its Commander III slipform paver will help increase the machine’s versatility and overall performance. The paver will be on the market in the third quarter of this year and the three-track machine’s key improvements include a new G+ control system and a new low emission, Tier 4 compliant engine.

In fact, the diesel has been turned around within the frame and the new configuration provides better airflow across the engine. Gomaco has also been able to use a smaller fan, reducing the noise generated while ensuring effective cooling. These improvements further improve operator comfort and fuel efficiency has been increased due to the new engine and also due to the load-sensing hydraulics.

Other Gomaco upgrades on show at Conexpo 2014 include a redesigned frame and operator’s platform with a new pivoting control console that offers a better view of the working area across the range of applications the machines can handle. The control panel can be moved to suit the varying visibility needs of different duties, while operator comfort has been improved through the installation of vibration damping to the platform.

The manufacturer redesigned the frame to accommodate Tier 4 engines and their cooling packages. With the engine installation reversed operator visibility is improved due to the new sloping cover while the new diesel configuration gives better access to service and fill points.

Another new feature is an optional on-board camera that can be located anywhere on the machine and provide the operator with a view of a working function on the display of the G+ system. The machine has the new GBox on every leg, which improves control of the steering and grade through the G+ system. In three leg format, the Commander III suits kerb and gutter duties and can handle paving widths up to 3.66m while the four track machine can pave widths up to 6.1m.
