Keith Gelinas says FleetEdge will provide a long-term return on investment.

A new fleet management product from 8587 ORBCOMM will make it easier to track the location, maintenance status and overall performance of machines.

On view at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, FleetEdge is an application that helps fleet managers analyse fuel consumption, track asset movement to minimise theft and loss, and schedule service alerts so that proper maintenance practices are followed.

The new product features an interface that assists fleet managers by providing easy and effective navigation and a dynamic dashboard with widgets.

FleetEdge is the first ORBCOMM web portal built on its Application Enablement Platform (AE), which enables big data integration and robust analytics. The enhanced FleetEdge application is designed for both desktop and mobile devices.

“ORBCOMM’s enhanced fleet management solution encompasses the latest IoT (Internet of Things) technologies integrated with our unique DeviceCloud platform to seamlessly manage equipment fleets of any size or asset type,” said Keith Gelinas, ORBCOMM’s senior vice president and general manager of OEM and network channel sales. “We are committed to providing our customers with solutions that deliver a strong return on investment over the long term, and our next generation solution is driving higher levels of productivity and efficiency across the heavy equipment industry.”

Terex Materials Processing, a business segment of Terex, conducted an extensive development project with ORBCOMM.

“We are especially pleased with ORBCOMM’s customized web portal, which will enable us to easily monitor our fleet of machinery and provide operational efficiencies and cost savings to our customers right away,” said Barry McMenamin, group electrical engineering manager at Terex Materials.

“We are already learning a lot about how our equipment is used and will use this to drive improvements. We have a very strong ethos of continuous development - and the data from the telematics solution will help us engineer in more reliability, uptime and fuel efficiency.”
